Two traders from Uttar Pradesh were murdered with sharp-edged weapons by unidentified persons in Sonepat and Rs 1.30 lakh looted from them, police said on Monday.

The bodies of 26-six-year old Sajjid and Raisuddin, 80, were found near Bega village of Sonepat district on the banks of the river Yamuna, they said.

Sajjid and Raisuddin, hailing from Baghpat and Muzaffarnagar districts, had gone to Punjab on a tractor-trolley to sell 'gur' on January 14.

Sajjid last contacted his family on January 27, saying he was near Panipat, Haryana and was carrying Rs 1.30 cash, they added.

A case of murder has been registered and the probe was being made, police said.
