UCER students bag plum jobs

SYNTEL INC, a Detriot (USA)-based multi-national software development company, has selected 57 students from United College of Engineering and Research (UCER) during a recently conducted campus placement initiative.

SYNTEL INC, a Detriot (USA)-based multi-national software development company, has selected 57 students from United College of Engineering and Research (UCER) during a recently conducted campus placement initiative.

The selected students are from the final year B Tech-2006 batch of computer science and engineering, information technology, electronics and communication and mechanical engineering streams.

Initially, Syntel Inc will provide training to these students at its Pune, Mumbai and Chennai-based operations before deploying them for high-value software development projects.

“Among the prominent giants of the software industry who participated in the campus placement exercise during the current academic year for B Tech/MCA students include Infosys, Satyam, Birlasoft, i-Flex, Tecnosys and others. Infosys selected 109 students of B Tech and MCA while Satyam offered jobs to 48 and Birlasoft to 25 students respectively,” said UCER PRO Vishal Datta.

He said in the area of core industries, Cummins India, Areva, L&T, Sonalika Tractor, Mahindra & Mahindra, Hindustan Glass Industries Ltd and others participated in the recruitment process for mechanical and electrical engineering students.

Management students had a great year. Well-known information technology application companies recruited MBA students for high-profile professional assignments.

Datta said Fortis India Ltd, the subsidiary of Ranbaxy, also carried out a recruitment drive on the campus for capital products management and investment banking operations. ICICI Prudential and ICICI Bank conducted campus recruitments at the initial stage of the academic session. “India Bulls enrolled 12 MBA students for aggressive marketing corporate office management while Syntel also found talents in MBA students. HSBC selected 12 students from the campus for its national operation,” Datta said.

He added Asian Paints showed interest in conducting campus recruitments for post-graduate and undergraduate management students. At the end of the academic session, Airtel, Spectranet, MFL etc are lining up for the final round of campus recruitments.
