The closure is to enable the installation of a new IT system at the British High Commission in New Delhi, as part of a global programme affecting all British high commissions and embassies, Dan Chugg, Director, Press and Communications, British High Commission, said.

The last date for accepting new applications will be February 9, while these centres will re-open on February 15. During this closure, customers will be able to collect their passports from these centres from 9 am to 10 pm.

Chugg said the applicants who intend to travel to the UK in February and March are advised to submit their visa applications as soon as possible. “The UK Border Agency office in New Delhi and the customer enquiry email address will also be closed from February 11 to 15, after which the aim is to resume a normal visa service as quickly as possible,” he added.

The updates will be placed on the websites www.vfs-uk-in.com and http://ukinindia.fco.gov.uk. For general enquires, customers may also call the VFS Global helpline (080) 40084008.
