UP Board unable to deal with fake invigilators

THE UP BOARD's step to stop entry of fake invigilators during exams seems to be ineffective in the ongoing High School and Intermediate examinations. Nearly one thousand fake invigilators have been caught red- handed during the examination in the state so far despite strict instructions issued by the state government as well the education department officers.

Nearly one thousand fake invigilators have been caught red- handed during the examination in the state so far despite strict instructions issued by the state government as well the education department officers. As many as 26 fake invigilators in Agra, 26 in Kaushambi, 17 in Allahabad, 153 in Varansai and 326 in Meerut divisions have been nabbed so far. Punitive action is being taken against them, said the Board officers.

Taking a lesson from last year mass copying in 2005 examination, the Board had planned to issue identity cards for invigilators in 2006 examinations.

Significantly, several invigilators have themselves been found directly indulging in mass copying in recent years in the UP Board's examinations with the connivance of nakal mafia in the state .

Thus, the Board officials this year wanted to check the invigilators' role in mass copying by distributing I cards at their examination centres.

I cards, however were issued but about 35 per cent teachers did not turn up for exam duty. Taking advantage of this the nakal mafias issued fake identity cards.
District Inspector of Schools, Allahabad Mahendra Singh Yadav said that an inquiry was being conducted into the matter. It was a matter of concern that despite clear cut instructions to principals and management in this regard fake invigilators managed to reach the centres.. FIRs against four fake invigilators were lodged in the Allahabad district, he added.

It may be recalled, that some board officials had expressed their doubts over complete distribution of the I cards and its proper implementation of this system owing to insufficient time.
