UP HC sets aside order against Palok Basu

A Division Bench of the Allahabad High Court has set aside on order passed by the single judge of this court, whereby the charge under contempt of court was framed against a retired High Court Judge, Justice Palok Basu.
The single judge had on December 8, 2005 passed an order against retired judge of the High Court Justice Palok Basu (who is presently working as president of the State Consumer Redressal Commission), to show cause as to why he should not be tried and punished under Section 12 of the Contempt of Courts Act 1971 for deliberate defiance and willful disobedience of the interim order of this court passed on November 1, 2003.
Justice Basu had challenged the order of the single judge before the Division Bench.
After hearing all sides, the Division Bench comprising of Justice SR Alam and Justice Sudhir Agarwal allowed the contempt appeal of retired High Court judge, Justice Palok Basu and set aside the single judge order.
