A woman was burnt alive by a youth in Shivpur village of Gorakhpur district in Uttar Pradesh, police said on Wednesday.

Forty-year-old Meera and her two children, Khushbu (14) and Mallu (12) were sleeping last night when a youth entered their house.
The youth tied Meera's hands and legs and burnt her alive, police said.
Neighbours rushed the woman to hospital where she was declared brought dead, they said, adding the body has been sent for post-mortem.
Station officer Ramasheesh Yadav said a jacket left by the youth at the house has been taken into custody. A mobile, a diary and an identity card was found in the jacket. The woman's husband works in Kota.
