UP: Youth crosses track with ear plugs on, crushed under train

A second-year mechanical engineering student of PK Engineering College, Mathura, was crushed by a speeding train while he was crossing a railway track on Sunday.Witnesses said the victim had earplugs in his ears and was apparently listening to songs, due to which he could not hear the train coming behind him.

A second-year mechanical engineering student of PK Engineering College, Mathura, was crushed by a speeding train while he was crossing a railway track on Sunday.

Witnesses said the victim had earplugs in his ears and was apparently listening to songs, due to which he could not hear the train coming behind him.

According to the police, the deceased was identified as 22-year-old Tarun Kumar, a resident of Bulandshahar. He was returning to his rented room in Sonai, Mathura when the incident occurred.

Police said Kumar was crossing the railway track listening to songs on his ear phones when Bandikui Express coming from Mathura hit him near the Sonai railway station. Onlookers said the train driver had blown the train horn from a distance and seberal bystanders also shouted to alert Kumar but apparently he could not hear their voices.

KP Singh, in-charge of Bichpuri police outpost in Mathura, said the deceased was identified on the basis of his identity cards and his family members were also informed about his death.
