UPA misusing CBI against Guj govt: state BJP
State BJP on Sunday accused Congress and the Centre of "misusing the CBI as an instrument to tarnish the image of Gujarat government" in the Sohrabuddin fake encounter case, which is being probed by the agency as per the Supreme Court's direction.
State BJP general secretary and Rajya Sabha member Vijay Rupani told reporters in Ahmedabad that CBI has started arresting and summoning police officials in the state, which may not have been asked by the apex court.
The CBI may also implicate some political leaders wrongly and arrest them in connection with the case, he claimed.
"The leading investigating agency is becoming Congress Bureau of Injustice (CBI)," Rupani said, adding, "the Centre wants to disturb the government by demoralising the police force with arrest of its senior officials."
At a time when the entire state was busy celebrating its golden jubilee, CBI arrested a senior police officer of Ahmedabad and summoned other senior officials, Rajya Sabha member Purushottam Rupala said on the arrest of Deputy Commissioner of Police Abhay Chudasama in connection with the case and summoning of seven serving and retired IPS officials.
