UPHCL is now without an MD

THE FINANCIALLY hit UP Handloom Corporation Limited (UPHCL) is functioning without managing director. Last managing director Shyamlal got his retirement on July 31 and left the office without handing over charge to any senior officers of the corporation.

Last managing director Shyamlal got his retirement on July 31 and left the office without handing over charge to any senior officers of the corporation.

However, when a group of senior officers approached out going MD on the last day for any direction they were asked to leave the office. The visiting senior officers of the corporation were told that some dialogues with the State authorities were going on and they would be informed later on.

Meanwhile, UPHCL officials left the MD office and waited till working hours for any direction from the out going MD. However, they did not get any instructions from the out going MD.

Talking to Hindustan Times, deputy general manager NB Singh confirmed that no managing director was appointed yet at UPHCL. However, he further said that it was surprising that out going MD did not handover the charge to anybody.

The general secretary of the UPHCL Employees Association PC Bhanti said that the corporation was headless and employees were facing problems.

Bhanti expressed surprise over the incident and said that such thing never happened in the corporation. He said that it seems that top official of the State have no concern about UPHCL.

Principal secretary for Hathkargha and Vastra Udhyog Ravindra Singh said that someone has been appointed as Managing Director of UPHCL.

However, he expressed his inability to divulge more details about the new appointment.
