The Union Public Service Commission on Tuesday cancelled the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination for Public Administration held last month following discrepancy in tallying of number of question papers at one of the examination centres.
A re-examination for the subject would be conducted on June 18, an official release said in New Delhi.
The decision to cancel the Public Administration examination, which was held on May 14, was taken after it was brought to UPSC's notice that there was a discrepancy in the tallying of the number of question papers at one of the Examination Centres.
Though no complaint or allegation of leakage or any malpractice was received, the examination has been cancelled to ensure total confidence in the minds of the candidates in the integrity of the examination process, it said.
The UPSC has also ordered a detailed inquiry into the entire episode.
The details of the venue, date and time of the re-examination and admit cards are being mailed to the candidates by the Commission, it added.
