"India's case is very strong and it is a live issue," Mulford said in Kolkata while addressing the Indian Chamber of Commerce on 'Advancing US-India Economic Relations'.
"USA is in a delicate position so far as the Security Council is concerned and the country is attaching higher priority now in UN reforms.
"Our first priority is reform of the UN and the second priority is how the Security Council fits into it," Mulford said.
Mulford said Americans are aggrieved with the functioning of the UN and want reforms in the international body.
"Iraq was head of the disarmament committee of the United Nations once," Mulford said sarcastically, stressing on the need for reforms in the international body.
