US poll: A ringside view
A large chunk of Hollywood stands behind Democrat John Kerry. But President George W. Bush is not exactly without star supporters.
Two days before the US presidential poll, a large chunk of Hollywood stands behind Democrat John Kerry. But President George W. Bush is not exactly without star supporters.
RED CORNER
Republicans have frequently derided Hollywood as a bastion of perverted
liberalism. Tinsel town’s Republican hall of fame includes Frank Sinatra, Bob Hope, Clark Gable, Fred Astaire, Gary Cooper, Cary Grant and Elvis Presley. In this election, they’ve got all the action heroes.
Bush knows you can’t reason with terrorists. You defeat them... Make sure you tell everybody to vote, and vote George W. Bush next week.
Arnold Schwarzenegger
I am sick of the anti-(Iraq) war attitude of Hollywood.
Bruce Willis
They (the terrorists) drew first blood... they drew first blood... President Bush is as steady as a rock
Sylvester Stallone
We should just trust our President in every decision he makes, you know, and be faithful in what happens
Britney Spears
LAST WORD
John Kerry accused George W. Bush of catering to the rich. You know, as opposed to John Kerry, who just marries them...
Jay Leno
BLUE CORNER
Hollywood has traditionally been Democratic. John Rhys-Davies, Gimli the dwarf in The Lord Of The Rings trilogy, once said, ‘You introduce a Republican to another in Hollywood, it’s like a meeting between two Christians in Caligula’s Rome.’ The situation has not changed much in 2004.
Over the past four years, George Bush has made wrong choices, disastrous choices, when it comes to the environment. It’s time for a change.
Leonardo DiCaprio
Let the Prez answer..., strap him with an AK-47, let him fight his war. Maybe God’s saying we’re responsible for this coward we’ve empowered...
Eminem
Voting for Kerry should be basic instinct. If you vote for these kids who’re keeping us free, for violence against women to stop, then vote Kerry.
Sharon Stone
America is not always right. That is a fairy tale for children.
Bruce Springsteen
LAST WORD
Bush is going to hold elections in Iraq. He’ll rebuild infrastructure, he’ll create jobs. He said if it works there, he’ll try it here in the United States.
David Letterman
