Due to the law and order situation in Nepal, the visa operation will remain closed in Kathmandu, and the "US embassy in New Delhi will process visa applications for Nepalese citizens and residents", said the statement.

Applicants can get an appointment letter from the US embassy in New Delhi and those whose appointments have been cancelled due to the closure of the consular section at the US embassy in Nepal can apply for a fresh appointment by email, said the statement.

The statement reiterated that although application process would take four months, it would try to process it within three weeks in case of emergency medical care, urgent business requirement and for student visitors.
