The villagers led by Pirni village Pradhan Kundan Kumar held special puja at local Nag Devta (Snake God) temple praying for the speedy recovery of BJP patriarch.

The 84-year-old leader was admitted to AIIMS in New Delhi last night following respiratory infection and fever.

"As soon as the news of Vajpayee ji being admitted at AIIMS arrived here villagers here became worried and gathered at the temple to pray for his good health," Kundan Kumar told PTI.

He said he has also conveyed villagers' wishes at Vajpayee's residence in New Delhi over phone.

Vajpayee has a home at Pirni village on Kullu-Manali road in Himachal Pradesh, where he used to visit every year in summer before his health deteriorated.
