Raje was flying to Ujjain from Omkareshwar, where she had gone to offer prayers at the Shiva temple, when the helicopter had to land in a field near the Ichchapur-Indore road around 4 p.m.

She stayed at the site of landing for about an hour before a vehicle was arranged for her, Khandwa Superintendent of Police K.D. Parashar told IANS over phone.

"The helicopter is still parked at the place where it had landed and police are guarding it," he said.

Raje will inaugurate the Madhya Pradesh government's Annapurna scheme at the temple town of Ujjain Sunday. The scheme envisages providing food grain at economical prices to the poor.
