THE vendors, who were removed from the Boat Club Road this month, today staged dharna in front of Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) headquarters — Sadar Manzil for two hours. Vendorss’ dharna forced the security personnel to close the main door of Sadar Manzil, causing inconvenience to the citizens.

The BMC authorities removed vendors from the Boat Club Road about a fortnight back. Though the BMC returned the goods seized from them, they are demanding that they be granted permission to run their business at the same place. The vendors raised the slogans against Mayor Sunil Sood and BMC Commissioner Manish Singh.

They staged dharna in front of Sadar Manzil’s gate. However, BMC security personnel could not remove them from the gate resulting in closure of gate for two hours. Surprisingly, the security personnel did not call the police. The dharna began at 11 am.

Mayor Sunil Sood reached Sadar Manzil at 1 pm and told the officials to call the police in order to remove the demonstrating vendors. Due to demonstration, many citizens returned from Sadar Manzil without getting works like getting birth and death certificates completed.
