Victory of democracy
It was a day of victory not only for Nepal?s people, but also for democracy. It was people?s power that forced King Gyanendra to reconstitute the democratic government.
It was a day of victory not only for Nepal’s people, but also for democracy. It was people’s power that forced King Gyanendra to reconstitute the democratic government (Gyanendra concedes more, Now Parliament, April 25). A deplorable act
This refers to the editorial Scaring tactics (April 17). Whether it is the Jama Masjid blast or the one at Sankat Mochan, such cheap activities are equally condemnable. Bangladesh is increasingly becoming a hub for terrorists. Pressure must be exerted on Dhaka to crack down on fundamentalist groups operating out of the country. It is fortunate that people restrained themselves from creating further mayhem, which was the aim of terrorists in Delhi.

Unethical media
Does Pankaj Vohra mean that this land belongs to the Gandhi family where Rahul Gandhi is perceived by him to be the only inheritor? (Land of the rising son, April 24). The fundamentals of journalism are to inform and enlighten. This can’t be achieved by projecting a larger-than-life image for anyone, or putting him up on a pedestal.

Women-friendly bill
Kudos to lawmakers for introducing a society-friendly Bill on sati (New sati law
to go after family, April 25). Family members abetting sati should be penalised and the widow given inheritance benefits. Such crimes will continue until a woman is given equal share in ancestral property.
