A group of ultras with fire-arms arrived in the village in the small hours and shot one Lakhinder Munda, who was engaged in projects under National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, police said.
The Maoists pumped in two bullets into Munda's body.
The extremists also damaged two houses after they failed to locate other persons they were searching for, the police said.
Police superintendent Navin Kumar Singh alongwith additional force rushed to the spot and launched a massive combing operation to track the culprits, the police said.
