Villagers block NH-2 over woman’s murder

The murder of a housewife at her house in Prithla, about 25 kilometers from here, on Saturday morning triggering massive protests with family members and villagers disrupting traffic on the busy NH-2 for hours, demanding arrest of the accused.
Victim Manju's husband Pratap Singh, a farmer was at his field while their three children had left for school, when unidentified assailant stabbed her to death.
When Singh returned home around 9 am, he found his wife dead. His shouted for help and a large number of villagers rushed to his house.
Manju was taken to the hospital but she was declared brought dead.
Agitated villagers staged a sit-in on NH-2 along with Manju's body. A strong contingent of police force was rushed to the spot. But the cops failed to pacify the villagers and relatives of the deceased.
Tourist on the Delhi-Agra route suffered the most due to the highway blockade. The local residents preferred train to reach their offices in Delhi, NCR in view of the blockade.
It was only after deputy commissioner Palwal Vijay Dahiya reached the spot that the agitating villagers decided to leave and take the body back to hospital for post-mortem.
Meanwhile, Palwal Sadar police station has registered case of murder against unknown people. "We have registered case against unknown accused and efforts are on identify and arrest them at the earliest," Vinod Kumar, the investigating officer in the case, said.
