Protesters also threw ink and waved black flags at the BJP leader.

Swamy is in Kanpur to attend an event at VSSD College in Nawabgunj.

Many Congress party leaders, including city president Har Prakash Agnihotri, national secretary Abdul Manna, corporator Amod Tripathi were hurt in the police lathicharge at Naronha crossing at Mall Road.

The injured were admitted to North Star hospital.

Congressmen blocked the road after the lathicharge.
