Refuting KMC's charges, Irrigation Minister Amalendra Roy told newsmen that his department had removed the obstacles in all the drainage canals in and around the metropolis.

Pointing out that the Metro Railway and some other organisations were carrying out construction work on and along Tolly's Nullah, Roy said that the agencies entrusted with keeping the canals clear were not coordinating among themselves causing obstructions on the canals.

Mayor Subrata Mukherjee and KMC Mayor-in-Council (Drainage) Mala Roy have gone on record blaming the irrigation department for not desilting the drainage canals.
