The Congress-led alliance would decide its leadership only after the results are declared, spokesman Jaipal Reddy said.
A day after claiming that it would be a Congress-led government after Lok Sabha polls, the party on Friday shifted the gear back, saying the leadership of a non-NDA alliance would be sorted out after the election results were out.

"I will only say at this moment that all these questions would be addressed after May 13 when results are known. We will form an alternative government to the NDA and Congress being the single largest party would take initiative in this regard", party spokesman S Jaipal Reddy told reporters.
He was reacting to questions on the statement of West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee's remarks about possibility of a Third Front government failing which the Left Front would support a Sonia Gandhi-led Congress government.
The strategic committee of the party, which met on Thursday to review the penultimate round of polling and prepare the strategy for the final round, had rejected any "space" for the Third Front in today's politics and expressed confidence to form a Congress-led secular government after May 13.
