We might see repeat of WC final

We will be involved in the first big game of the Champions Trophy on Thursday, against New Zealand. This is where our quest for getting our hands around the trophy really begins. We have not won any of the three editions of this tournament so far, but I feel this is our best chance. While the team here is almost identical to the one that we played against in Colombo, a couple of years ago, I think we are a better squad today.

We are more mature, tougher and with the passage of time, we have become great mates. We revel in each other's company, and complement each other better than we did in 2002. I would not hesitate in saying that we are now tougher to beat than we were in Sri Lanka. The other factor that makes me confident is the fact that our record in England has been really good over the last few years. What's more, a lot of the guys have been involved in county cricket here, and are well-acclimatized to the conditions.

We have done pretty well against the Kiwis over the last few years, but they are a side that can be dangerous. They have match-winners in Stephen Fleming, Chris Cairns and Craig McMillan. Any trans-Tasman encounter, no matter what the sport is, is a hard-fought battle and we are not expecting any favours from the Kiwis.
