Formerly known as Seddon Park, having been named for former New Zealand Prime Minister Richard John (King Dick) Seddon, the oval was renamed WestpacTrust Park following a major renovation.

The ground is located close to the centre of Hamilton, and is renowned for it's "village green" setting, affording a picnic atmosphere for spectators.

WestpacTrust Park has till date been hosts to 10 Tests and 11 one-day Internationals. The ground usually has very good batting tracks.

Last time India played at this venue 1998/99, Rahul Dravid played a brilliant innings which still remains the highest score at this venue.

The ground has also been used for Hockey and Rugby League matches during the off-season and concerts on several occasions

Total capacity for cricket matches is about 10,000.
