When elders walked the ramp

Though beauty pageants walk on the ramp, this time around the elders had a reason to smile as they were participating in the much popularised fashion show.
The latent beauty of the elders was palpable when they catwalked on the ramp and became the centre of attraction.Clad in different attractive attires, the elders (mostly between 60 and 90 years of age) including some toothless veterans walked the ramp amidst lantern lights and left the audience to realise the actual beauty hidden behind the old faces.
The grandsons and grand daughters of the elders were present to boost the morale of their grandfathers, participating in the fashion show.
Madhusudan (82), Abdul Kuddus (90) and Mohan Sahu Bihari bagged best model awards in this unique fashion show. The show began with a ramp walk of Julphakar Ahmed followed by a walk of advocate Mewa Lal.
A 90-year-old man, Abdul Kuddus won laurels whereas 82-year-old Madhusudan created an ambience of nationality through his gesture depicting an image of a soldier. The participants of the elders fashion show were dressed in different clothes such as Luckhnavi topi, dhoti-kurta, paijama-kurta, lungi and shervani.
Others who participated in the fashion show were Sufi Abdul Rehman, Ramzan Ali, Mashiullah, Vinod Kumar Bakshi, Bachchanu Nau, Janul Abdin, Abdul Kalam, Shakir Ali, and Ali Akhtar etc.
Coordinator of the ramp show, S Javed Ahmed said this show was organised with an objective to get the elders realised that there was feeling of pride for elders among the young generation.
It may be noted the Allma Iqbal Educational Society has organised several programmes like cricket match, football match for the elders to overcome their loneliness during the last one week.
