The 2,300 crore buyout of Air Sahara by Jet Airways has raised a significant question -- what will happen to the sponsorship of India cricket team by the former.

Air Sahara won the bid for team sponsorship for a whopping Rs 313.80 crore for a four-year period.

According to Sahara sources, the sponsorship would be taken up by the Sahara group and logo of any other Sahara group company could be used.

Sahara group officials said that their sponsorship of the Indian cricket team will not be affected due to the takeover.

Sources indicated that the deal was not just restricted to Air Sahara.

When contacted, Jet Airways sources informed that the company had no plans of sponsoring cricket.

The floor price for sponsoring a Test match had been fixed at Rs 1 crore and Rs 90 lakh for each one-day international (ODI). It is estimated that there would be at least 44 Tests and 110 ODIs played in the next four years.

BCCI had said during the announcement of the sponsorship deal that although it is Air Sahara, it is with the backing of the Sahara group. We have all the bank guarantees.
