Windies have become a proud unit

The West Indies are back. And I say this not because of their triumph on Saturday but I base it on the way they fought tooth and nail to pull off the incredible victory.

The last time I have seen the West Indies batting tail wag is way back in the 1975 World Cup semi-final against Pakistan. They were a proud unit then and they have become a proud unit again and it was the hunger to regain lost pride that drove them towards the target in almost improbable circumstances.

It was amazing to see the maturity with which the heroes Courtney Browne and Ian Bradshaw went about their task. No big shots were attempted, no risks were taken.

The main bowlers, Stephen Harmison and Andrew Flintoff, both of whom were exemplary once again, were played out with great respect and the lesser lights, so to say, such as Alex Wharf and Paul Collingwood, dealt with comfortably.
