At least two persons were involved in the crime that took place on May 30 at a place opposite an ATM near the Bhayandar railway station between 2.30pm and 5pm, said sub-inspector Aparna Whatkar of Navghar police station.

The woman had named one Deepak (full name not known) and another unidentified man in her complaint, police said.

The unidentified person put the revolver on the woman's head while Deepak allegedly raped her, they said.

However, police did not elaborate on whether the two were known to the woman or they had waylaid her.

A search is on for the two accused, they said.

After a medical examination of the woman, a case was registered against the duo under sections 376 (rape), 377 (unnatural offences), 506(2) rw 34 and also under sections 3 and 25 of the Arms Act.
