Woman drugged, gang-raped by five including cop's son in Muzaffarnagar

A 26-year-old woman was allegedly drugged and gang-raped in Muzaffarnafar by five youth, including the son of a sub-inspector, police said on Sunday.

According to the complaint lodged by the victim, she had gone to a gift centre on Saturday where she was allegedly offered a sedative-laden cold drink by the shop owner.

The five accused, including the owner and the Kotwali sub-inspector's son, allegedly gang-raped the girl in the area, SSI of Kotwali police station Promod Kumar said.

When the woman gained consciousness, they threatened her with dire consequences if she revealed the incident to anyone, he said.

The accused have been identified as Vijay Kumar, Anuj Sethi, Piyush Kumar, the sub-inspector's son Kapil. The fifth accused could not be immediately identified.

The police have registered a case against the absconding accused and the woman has been sent for medical examination. An investigation is underway in the matter and efforts are on to nab the accused, Kumar added.
