As for the farmers, the shortage of migrant labourers from Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh for harvesting and sowing of seasonal crops is giving them sleepless nights. Congress supporter Anand Nain, farmer from Sonepat's Naina Tatarpur village, said he wanted to attend the rally but November being the month of paddy harvesting and wheat sowing, he would not be able to make it. "Timely harvesting and sowing are important as any delay may cost me dearly," said Nain, who owns 5 acres.
Sunil Kumar, owner of 4 acres at Juan village of Sonepat district, said he had been unable to arrange labourers for harvesting and sowing and running from pillar to post to managing labourers for his field.
Anoop Kumar of Suragthal village and owns 20 acres said, "Inflation has made things difficult for common man. I prefer to devote time to my fields, through which I earn my livelihood."
