As Jharkhand for the first time going for general elections after its creation, External Affairs minister Yashwant Sinha too became the first Union minister in the state to cast his vote in Hazaribag as soon as polling began this morning.

Accompanied by elder brother, wife and daughter, Sinha pressed the EVM button at his Hupad village coming under his Hazaribag constituency.
Sinha is facing a stiff challenge against opposition-backed candidate Bhubaneswar Prasad Mehta of the CPI.
The ultras on Monday night withdrew their boycott call through issuing handbills in Chatra and Hazaribag.
Former Chief Minister Babulal Marandi, facing sitting Congress MP Tilakdhari Singh, also exercised his franchise at Khoro in Koderma.
