The order is a setback for Yedyurappa, who was aspiring for the top job in the state again and eager to put all the cases behind. The fresh trouble comes a day after the police gave him a clean chit in another complaint.

Justice Anand Byrareddy dismissed the petitions after hearing the arguments of petitioner and advocate Sirajin Basha, on whose complaints the lokayukta court had issued summons against Yeddyurappa and 14 others.

“All proceedings are at nascent stage, and intricacies of alleged offences…need not be addressed in these proceedings, as it may prejudice the case of the petitioner, the merits or demerits of which is to be tested before the special lokayukta court,” the judge said.
