Chairing a meet on Friday, chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan directed officials to prepare an ideal model of the proposed fintech city ensuring that it is economically beneficial.

The Indore Development Authority (IDA) is planning massive restructuring in its land use policy to develop Super Corridor into a techno-financial hub of central India. The government expects an investment of Rs 1,500 crore from financial institutions and technology companies and has claimed that the project will generate employment for about 75,000 people.

IDA will develop the project on a 52-acre land on public private partnership (PPP) mode near Super Corridor. Development centres of TCS and Infosys are coming up near this place.

“Discussions were held on bringing changes in floor space index (FSI) policy and regulations regarding high-rise structures,” IDA chairman Shankar Lalwani said. The project will be put on fast track, he added.

A few months ago, a team of IDA officials visited Mumbai, Hyderabad and Ahmedabad to understand how to create a habitable ecosystem for financial and software organisations for setting up businesses in the city.

IDA officials say policy level intervention is required in the state’s IT and SEZ policies to enable a competitive and fostering atmosphere for businesses.

In the next three years, at least 25,000 IT professionals and a community of 10,000 students are expected to come up in the corridor.

The IDA has appointed PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) as knowledge partner for designing a roadmap for development of Super Corridor into techno-financial hub with big employment potential.

The existing FSI in the city ranges from 1.25 to 2 and up to 3 in Super Corridor which might be increased The current ground coverage regulations of 30 percent may be increased by enabling underground vehicular parking and transit oriented development in Super Corridor.

RS 33 CRORE FOR CARDIAC CENTRE

The government has sanctioned Rs 33.15 crore for a cardiac centre in Indore’s Maharaja Yeshwantrao Hospital which will be built in two years, giving a boost to the healthcare facilities in the region.

Divisional commissioner Sanjay Dubey termed the sanction of funds a major feat as the district administration had been trying to get it for the last four years.

“A team of engineers and consultants will be visiting the hospital in the coming week to finalize the layout and design. Once that is done, work will begin,” he said.

The centre will be constructed above the trauma centre in MY Hospital.

It will also act as a fillip to the recently announced increase in number of medical seats in MGM medical college from 150 to 250.

“The sanction of funds is also inclusive of the openings for doctors on the posts of MCH (Master of Surgery) and DM (Doctor of Medicine),” Dubey said.

Facilities like cath lab and advanced cardiac surgeries, which are not being performed in Bhopal, are expected here.

“We are already marching forward in the arena of organ transplant. By December, Indore will have a heart transplant facility. But while this will be with a private hospital, the cardiac centre in MY hospital will bring it within the reach of BPL (below poverty line) patients,” Dubey said.
