The incident occurred at Shri Synthetic factory, situated on the city outskirts under Madhav Nagar police station limit. The deceased were identified as Jairam Parmar (50) and his niece Sunita (8), daughter of Shriram Parmar, resident of Panwasa, Ujjain.

Madhav Nagar police station incharge Mahendra Singh Parmar said that more than half-a-dozen people are still trapped under the debris and rescue work is on. He said the factory, closed for a long time, was in a bad shape. The Kolkata High Court had asked the district administration on March 26 to auction the factory. “It may be possible that victims entered the factory with an intention to get sowme scrap. Probably, they tried to cut iron bars when the building collapsed,” he said.

“Now the matter is under investigation. Police have registered a case under section 174 of the CrPC,” the officer added.
