Mumbai Indians (MI) fell seven runs short of Kings XI Punjab’s (KXIP) mammoth total of 230/3 in their IPL 2017 match at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai as the latter kept their hopes of making the playoffs alive. MI ended with a total of 223/6 in their 20 overs, with Lendl Simmons and Kieron Pollard both scoring fifties. Earlier, Wriddhiman Saha’s unbeaten 93 had propelled KXIP to 230/3. Wriddhiman Saha, Man of the Match: We built up good momentum. When we batted initially, our target was to get 220. We thought it was a par score. I’m ready to bat wherever the team needs me.
Glenn Maxwell, Kings XI Punjab captain: We played fearless cricket. We still have some work to do, would be nice to sneak in through the back door.
