The South African T20 captain took to Twitter to announce the development.

Du Plessis scored 206 in six matches at an average of 34.33, with a highest score of 69. He hit consecutive half-centuries against Gujarat Lions and Kings XI Punjab, but both knocks ended in a losing cause.

Earlier, Pune lost the services of former England batsman Kevin Pietersen, who was forced to end his IPL campaign with a calf injury.

Pune are currently sixth in the points table after winning two out of their six matches.
