The district administrations in Bikaner, Barmer, Jalore and Sirohi had made preparations in case of the predicted showers, as the areas had received heavy rains on Sunday.

The train route between Jaisalmer and Phalodi was also blocked due to the rains. Many trains were cancelled on Monday as tracks were submerged.

However, on Monday, Met department director S.S. Singh said, “The effect of storm ‘Phet’ has weakened due to moisture on land. Even the wind flow does not support the storm, which results in its fading away.”

Singh said that chances of heavy rainfall in isolated areas like Jalore, Pali, Sirohi, and Bikaner districts had subsided. But, light to moderate rainfall could occur in Jaipur, Ajmer and Bikaner divisions.

Barmer District Collector Gaurav Goyal said the disaster management plan has been implemented with the deployment of operation centres, dedicated flood relief team, boats and divers, etc.
