In her suicide note, victim Sujata Devi, 44, (name changed) accused the chairman and group managing director of the company, GK Dalmia, and his friend Sunil Jain of raping her on June 8, said the police.

The police have arrested Dalmia on charges of rape and abetment of suicide while Jain is absconding, said deputy commissioner of police (west) Sharat Kaviraj. The DCP said Sujata and Dalmia lived in the same flat at Saurabh Tower in Vaishali Nagar. Dalmia’s mother also lived with them.

“We got information from the police control room that a woman had committed suicide by hanging. During the search of the flat, we recovered a suicide note from an almirah in the victim’s room in which she alleged the accused had ‘drugged and raped her in the same flat on June 8’,” said additional deputy commissioner of police (west), Rajesh Singh.

“The note mentions that the accused wanted her to clear some documents regarding financial irregularities of the company, which she had refused, and that the companies run by the accused are fraud and he had availed of several loans on the basis of his fake companies,” Singh added.
