Three police officers chargesheeted by CBI in the Rizwanur Rahman death case were granted interim bail by a court in Kolkata on Wednesday a day after they were remanded to 14 days judicial custody.

The bail was granted to former deputy commissioner of police (detective department) Ajay Kumar, former assistant commissioner of police, anti-dowry section, Sukanti Chakraborty and inspector Krishnendu Das by the sessions court of Madhusudan Dutta.
They were granted interim bail against two sureties bail of Rs 10,000 each.
The officers were remanded to judicial custody by Chief Metropolitan Magistrate S S Anand, who refused to stay the judicial remand ordered by Metropolitan Magistrate Madhumita Ray.
In his order, Anand had said that the accused should appeal to an appellate court or a division bench and a stay did not fall within the jurisdiction of the his court.
