A threat to blow up the Calcutta High Court and the city civil court was received by the Kolkata Police control room in Kolkata on Thursday.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Headquarter) Vineet Goyal said the call was received at around 4.00 pm and the bomb disposal squad and sniffer dogs were sent to comb the adjacent court buildings in the central district of the metropolis.
"A massive hunt has been launched to detect whether there is any explosive," Goyal told newspersons.
Panic gripped lawyers and the general people as policemen in special gear and sniffer dogs descended on the court buildings for a search.
