Centre failed to combat inflation: Karat

"The Union government has failed in bringing down prices of all essential commodities as it has not taken any effective measures to control the prices," CPI(M) General Secretary Prakash Karat said.

The UPA government at the Centre has failed to bring down the prices of essential commodities which have sky rocketed, CPI(M) general secretary Prakash Karat said in Kolkata on Friday.

"The Union government has failed in bringing down prices of all essential commodities as it has not taken any effective measures to control the prices," Karat told reporters at the N S C Bose International Airport in Kolkata.

The Left parties are planning to launch a nationwide movement against the price rise, he added.
