The CID, which arrested the five from South 24 Parganas district adjoining the metropolis on Tuesday, became aware of the woman leader after seizing a letter, which was to be delivered to her by one of the arrested Maoists.

The letter addressed to 'Debu' was meant for Debolina Chakraborty, a resident of Tollygunj in Kolkata and an active member of the Matangini Mahila Samity, the outfit's women's wing, DIG (CID) Anuj Sharma said.

CID sources said that she earlier resided at Konnagar in Hooghly district and had been married to a person named Avijit Mukherjee.
