Nagaland DIG visits Balarampur to probe NIRB firing

A senior official of the Nagaland Police on Saturday visited Purulia to enquire into the incident of firing between constables of NIRB and State Armed Police at Balarampur that left two dead on the night of December one.

A senior official of the Nagaland Police on Saturday visited Purulia to enquire into the incident of firing between constables of NIRB and State Armed Police at Balarampur that left two dead on the night of December one.

"Bishal Sema, a DIG of Nagaland Police, has gone to Purulia today (Saturday). He will remain there till tomorrow (Sunday)," West Bengal, ADG (Law and Order), Surajit Karpurakayastha told newsmen.

An inspector of a Nagaland India Reserve Battalion and a constable of the State Armed Police were killed during a fracas at Balarampur.

Police sources said that Sema visited the NIRB camp at Balarampur and inquired about the incident from the inmates. He also spoke to the NIRB constable who fired from his weapon killing the SAP constable.

The senior police official held meetings with senior West Bengal Police officials there.
