A schoolgirl who went into psychological turbulence after alleged ragging by senior students of her institution a week ago died after collapsing on the school premises on Wednesday.
The incident occurred at Christ Church School on the outskirts of Kolkata.
Class 5 student Oindrilla Das, 10, was reportedly asked to pay Rs 100 by three students of class 8 last week. Her family alleged when she refused to pay she was locked in the toilet of the school after study hours before a sweeper rescued her.
“Her condition deteriorated and we had to take her to a doctor, who advised us to consult a psychiatrist,” Oindrilla’s uncle Kanchan Das said.
The family said the second doctor had given her a sleeping-injection, which she might not have been able to bear. The family will lodge an FIR against the doctor and the school authorities.
