All accused in the Rizwanur Rahman death case are out on bail with Pradip Todi being the last of the seven to be released from jail on Sunday after being granted bail by the Supreme Court.
Though the apex court granted him bail on Friday, the documents related to the bail were cleared from the metropolitan court here only at sundown yesterday and as such the accused could not be released from the Presidency Jail.
However, Todi, the main accused in the case, whose bail prayer was also granted by the Supreme Court on Friday, was released on Saturday evening.
Industrialist Todi was under treatment in the state- run SSKM Hospital and was last night admitted to a private facility after being released in the evening.
Todi after reaching his plush Salt Lake residence alleged that he had been unnecessarily detained by the jail authorities for an extra day though the papers reached the jail by evening.
All the accused were charged with criminal conspiracy in the death of the computer graphics teacher whose body was found on September 21, 2007 beside railway tracks far from his home in Park Circus a month after his marriage to Ashok Todi's daughter Priyanka.
Priyanka's uncle Pradip and maternal uncle Anil Saraogi had allegedly played a role in getting her back to her parents from the youth's modest residence in Park Circus area.
Three officers of Kolkata Police, including IPS officer Ajoy Kumar who was at that time deputy commissioner of detective department, were accused and released on bail after spending a night in jail.
Rizwanur's family friend Pappu had also been accused by the CBI of taking Rs 11 lakh from the Todi family for ensuring a split between the couple.
