DM gives report on minister’s speech

Acting on the direction of the Election Commission, Hathras district magistrate Suhas LY on Sunday sent a report on energy minister Ramvir Upadhyaya’s reported outburst at lokayukta Justice (retd) NK Mehrotra to the chief electoral officer.

The CD containing the speech has been submitted.

Talking to HT, chief electoral officer Umesh Sinha said: “The report of the DM and the CD have been forwarded to the Election Commission for further action”.

Addressing a public meeting on Friday night, Upadhyaya warned the lokayukta against provoking him. The minister said he knew the law well and had it not been for his personal association with the lokayukta, he would have dragged him to court.
