A 17-year-old girl was attacked and her three fingers chopped off by four youths in Itaunja area, police said today.

Ranjana, a class 12th student, was dragged out of a tempo by the youths, who brutally beat her up and then chopped off three fingers of her right hand before fleeing from the spot, police said.

Ranjana's kin alleged that Kailash alias Painter, a resident of Madiaon, mastered the attack.
Painter suspected that Ranjana had created hindrance in his marriage with a girl living in the victim's village, police said.
An FIR had been lodged against Painter and his three aides in this connection, they said.
