Govt notifies Radha, Krishna birthplaces as pilgrimage sites

The Uttar Pradesh government declared on Friday Vrindavan and Barsana in Mathura district as pilgrimage sites

The Uttar Pradesh government declared on Friday Vrindavan and Barsana in Mathura district as pilgrimage sites. Vrindavan is famous world over as the birthplace of Lord Krishna where he and his elder brother Balram were brought up. Likewise, Barsana is the birthplace of Radha Rani.

Since lakhs of devotees and tourists daily visit these two places which are also important tourist destinations, the UP government has decided to declare the Nagar Palika Parishad Vrindavan and Nagar Panchayat Barsana in Mathura district as pilgrimages sites, states a government order issued by principal secretary, Awanish Awasthi.
