Kanpur: Six persons injured in communal clash

Six persons were injured in a clash involving members of two communities in Kanpur's busy Babupurwa area late on Saturday night. No arrests were made, though an FIR was registered against 14 people.

Trouble started when one Ankit Sonkar went to collect insurance payment from a client. Son was attacked by one Imran with whom he has a long standing enmity.

Sonkar's brother-in-law was also attacked when he tried to rescue him.

The scenario got communal overtones when members of two communities started pelting stones at each other. Shots were fired as well.

Police said raids were being conducted for the arrest of Imran and his associates. Hundreds of people took to the streets after the incident.
