Mukhtar Ansari's supporters arrested for firing at police
Twelve supporters of jailed Independent MLA Mukhtar Ansari were on Monday arrested when they were following him while being taken to Tees Hazari court in Delhi from Agra central jail, police said.
Twelve supporters of jailed Independent MLA Mukhtar Ansari were on Monday arrested when they were following him while being taken to Tees Hazari court in Delhi from Agra central jail, police said.
"As soon as Ansari was taken to a police van outside jail, some persons in two vehicles started following him. Policemen immediately informed the matter to the higher officials after which a crime branch team stopped these vehicles leading to exchange of fire," Special DGP (Law and Order) Brijlal told reporters here.
Later, the policemen arrested 12 persons including Ram Prakash Dubey, a prison guard in Agra, and recovered a pistol of 7.63 bore pistol, two magazines, a country made pistol and two vehicles from them.
All the accused were arrested under the tough Gangster Act and various sections of the IPC and sent to jail on charges of attempt to murder.
